Trump isn’t playing diplomat when it comes to trade — and he sure as hell isn’t protecting corporate comfort. This time, he set his sights on Walmart’s CEO, telling him flat-out: Walmart should eat the tariffs — not pass them to the people.

📌 What Happened:

Back during the peak of the U.S.– China trade war, Trump made it clear: if American companies had to pay tariffs on Chinese imports, they shouldn’t turn around and jack up prices on American consumers.

Doug McMillon, Walmart’s CEO, pushed back publicly, warning that the tariffs would lead to higher prices across the board — especially on essentials like clothing and household goods. Trump’s response? “Too bad.” He said big companies like Walmart should absorb the cost to protect American shoppers.

It wasn’t just a disagreement — it was a full-on standoff between economic nationalism and corporate profit margins.

🧠 The Bigger Picture:

This fight shows the core of Trump’s America First philosophy: he’s not anti-business — he’s anti-bullsh*t. If you're making billions off American families, he expects you to take the hit before passing it down. It also put companies like Walmart on blast for how they handle global trade pressure — and who they expect to pay the price.

💭 Final Thoughts:

Whether you agree with Trump or not, one thing’s clear: he’s forcing a conversation most politicians tiptoe around. Are corporations here to serve America — or just sell to it? And if they won’t put skin in the game when things get tough, who really holds the power?

I don’t chase clout / I chase clarity.
