In a harrowing incident on May 26, 2025, a 12-year-old girl was found severely injured in the Cecil Webb Wildlife Management Area in Punta Gorda, Florida. Authorities allege that 35-year-old Gwendolyn Girard stabbed the girl in the face and neck, then attempted to conceal her body under brush before fleeing the scene.
